Last Night in Franklin

The time has come, my foster mom says, to speak of certain things....of a potential new home, adoption, and the happiness it brings. On my last night here in Franklin, my foster sister Lily decided to snuggle with me and tell me how greyt being adopted is..I'm listening Lily! Wish me luck everyone...Dawn.

Re-Hab

Back to the pool for me! I do like the water.

Breaks in between are important!
This will not only help my leg get stronger, but
could also qualify me as a hound life guard! Dawn

At the Fair....

It's been an exciting day...at the fair, judging the canine culinary arts, attending the wine tasting, and getting my very own fair shirt. I wonder what is in our judges gift?

Corn dogs! Delicious!

The wine tasting was good too! I hope this shirt fits...Dawn.

Company!

Today was the day for very special company..first, there was this big handsome brindle boy named Ivan..my foster mom really liked him! I must admit he was tall, dark, and handsome!

There were humans and a small fluffly dog too! First, I tried to win them over with my award wining smile :-)

Then, I tried to play hard to get. Hope it worked! Dawn

Hanging in the Hallway...

I've decided to spend some time in the hallway, first I bend up the runner to make a nice pillow.

I even roach against the wall sometimes but my foster mom can never get a picture of that!

Truth is, the AC vent is the hallway and my foster mom says that makes me one really smart greyhound!

Cleaning Day

I got to go in a different room today--my foster mom said I needed to help her clean out the extra bedroom. It sure was messy!

It did not take me long though before I began to check all the boxes out...and I found the hat box! Do I look like a southern belle???

Ahoy there! It's Pirate Dawn ARRRRRRR!!!!

I am channeling my inner Mickey Mouse?

And before I knew it...the room was cleaned up! Maybe it was magic? Dawn.

I've been Collared!

Ok First, I was having a good time hanging out with my foster brother Arvin.

Then I began messing with my leg again, even if
I am muzzled I just can't leave it alone. So I had this
collar put on me. It makes me think of Scarlett O'Hounda.
With God as my Witness, I will NEVER wear this collar again!
Note from foster mom..yes she will if it helps!

Hanging Out....

Hi everyone...I have settled back in just fine, and am happy just to chill out while my leg heals. The worst part is leaving it alone! As you can see, my foster family is very supportive. Dawn.

I'm Back!!!!

It's true...I have had such an adventure today! I left Memphis with my foster mom Nina. She has been such blessing for me....I am so lucky to have two foster homes and two foster families that love me! Are we there yet Nina??

Now I am back in Franklin..resting after a long day of traveling. I am under close supervision so my leg will heal quickly. Guess what Aunt Lou! I LOVE DQ Ice Cream! Dawn......

Goodbyes and Hellos .... On the road again

I've been hanging out in Memphis at Bob and Nina's for a month and going to see Dr. Pearce 2 or 3 times a week for bandage changes. Recently, Barney, the lab-mix puppy, and I have been enjoying some playtime in the house under very careful supervision, of course. But I had to say my goodbyes to them this morning. Then we went to see Dr. Pearce and his staff for goodbyes and one last check. My bandage has been off since Thursday and now I have to wear my muzzle so I son't lick/chew the wounds. Dr. Pearce is really very pleased with the healing process. After Nina and I left his clinic, we stopped by to pick up her best friend, Karen, and then we headed east. Nina told me that we were going to meet my foster Mom, Anne Marie, and Auntie Liz at Dairy Queen!!!! She said that is where all the houndies go and it is one of my Auntie Lou's favorite places. Here are some photos of the goodbyes and our road trip. From now on my Foster Mom, Anne Maire, will be getting my blogs posted for me. (Nina: Thanks Dawn for the lovely greyhound earrings you gave me as a Thank You. They are so beautiful I had to wear them home. You are a sweetiepie and we all miss you.)

Red, White, and Blue

Just a quick note from me 'cause Nina said it was important for you to know that all the noise we heard over the weekend did not upset me. She said what we were hearing was something called "firecrackers" and it is common at this time of year. We were all in the house, but the noise in the neighborhood was pretty loud at times and we could hear it inside but it didn't bother me. Matter of fact, Nina hasn't found too many things that do "bother" me. I'm just as laid back as a greyhound can be. You can see from the picture that Aimee and Brett were making sure I was "dressed" for the holiday when they changed my dressing Friday afternoon. I'm what they called "a patrotic hound." My "Auntie" Lou (whom I've not met yet) is proud of me, I'm sure. When Dr. Pearce checked my leg he said it was still looking good and healing the way it should. Oh yea, I guess you have figured out that Husky and I didn't get to leave Memphis last Saturday as we had planned. It is all her fault, too. She had to go and chew through her bandage. Been there .... done that myself!!!

I got me a stuffie!!!

I think Nina realized that I was really missing all the stuffies I had at my foster Mom, Anne Marie's house. Because I'm going to be with her another week, she bought me one today of my very own. (She bought Barney, the puppy, a new rope toy which he likes, but he also wants MY Stuffie!!! Nina won't let him have it.) I am having so much fun playing with it. YIPPEE! She tried to take a video of me playing with it but I don't know if she is going to get it posted so you can see have much I LOVE STUFFIES! She told me my foster Mom said that all my stuffies are waiting for me at her house.

I'm still in Memphis

I can't believe it has been over a week since my last post. I have to depend on Nina to get this done and she has been just a "tad" busy these last couple of weeks. She takes me to Dr. Pearce on Tuesdays and Fridays for a dressing change and every time he tells us that my leg is looking better and better. You can see from the photos she took Tuesday that his staff really love me. What's not to love?! This afternoon they were talking about taking Husky and me back to Nashville next Saturday. She is really doing better, too. Nina has some photos of Husky and will post them on her blog tonight after she finishes with mine. Back to me.... This afternoon while Dr. Pearce was changing my dressing, Brett was giving me a greyt massage around my neck, front legs, and shoulders. It was wonderful. Unfortunatley, Nina didn't take any pictures this afternoon because she didn't have her camera, but you get the idea.

Another Dressing Change

Just wanted ya'll to know that I saw Dr. Pearce again this afternoon for a dressing change. He said that the incision is looking good. Nina didn't take any pictures of me 'til we got home. (She did visit with Husky and take a few pictures of her.) We don't have stuffies around here like we do at my foster Mom's, Anne Marie, but I did get this rope chew toy and had some fun tossing and chewing on it for a few minutes. I think Barney, the puppy, is pretty rough on stuffies and that is why we don't have those kind of toys here. I'll go back Friday for another dressing change 'til then I'm just chilling out and being my sweet self.

OOOOPS!

Here's the photos. Nina had a problem getting them to attach.

Can you say "ROLL TIDE"?

(Nina made me say that 'cause of my new bandage!) I went to see Dr. Pearce this morning so he could check my leg and change the dressing. I heard him say that the two incisions look good. One is competely healed and the other is more than 80% healed and there is a good blood supply to it. That's greyt news! As you can see from the photos, I was very "stressed out" about the whole procedure..... NOT! I think I will be with Nina and Bob for a couple of more weeks. It kinda depends on when Dr. Pearce discharges Husky, the latest GPA-N injured retiree. I go back Tuesday for another check and dressing change. I still have to be on leash when I go outside to potty. I stay in my crate at night and when Nina and Bob are out of the house, but I don't mind at all. Actually, I am prety laid back about it all. Just rolling with the flow and wagging my tail!

I'm OUT

Nina came by to visit me this afternoon and get some photos for my blog. She has not been able to visit me since she left me with Dr. Pearce last Friday morning. I know she told you that he took out the screw and wire in my leg. When I heard him tell Nina that I could go home with her this afternoon I got so excited. YIPEE! She will take me back Saturday for a dressing change. See how pretty I look in pink.
